Blackpool are still flying high after last week's victory over league champions Birchfield, a victory that confirmed their promotion in second position.
Blackpool started this friendly match against touring side Coventry Standard and were ahead after only 15 seconds thanks to a cunning kick off by Mike Routliffe, making a cameo appearance for the side.
He kicked to the blind side and winger Trevor Smith raced onto the ball and crossed the line in the corner much to the astonishment of the opposition defence and the watching supporters.
The home side only had to wait another two minutes before they increased their lead Five minutes later Blackpool were at it again with a try and conversion by Smith, his second of the match to further increase the lead.
It looked as though Blackpool were going to run riot when winger Chris Cardwell scored the first of two tries. .
This seemed to act as a wake up call for the tourists as, after some sustained forward pressure from a line out deep in the Blackpool half, they crossed the line to open their account. Coventry were now starting to play with a little more venom and their efforts were rewarded taking the score to 24 12 at half time. Blackpool extended their lead when winger Chris Cardwell scored his second try of the match.
Coventry were not to be outdone and came back at the home side with a converted try.
But man of the match Chris Parlour crossed the line after receiving the ball 10 metres out. Smith converted his try
