"OUR proud undefeated home record was blown away on Saturday," writes Kendal Director of Rugby Chris Hayton.

"The wind is only an advantage if you choose to use it and we played rugby fit for a sunny September afternoon, not a windy wet March one.

"Attempted 30 metre passes were blown away from hand when a simple kick to the corner would have put Stockport under pressure.

"Instead Stockport, who had used the wind well in the first half to turn round 11-3 up, were able to stay in the game and increase their lead.

"On days like that it is important to score first because it is difficult to chase games when the elements make anything but simple rugby impossible.

"We now face a difficult couple of away trips to Chester and Birkenhead Park before arguably the two toughest home fixtures of the season against Penrith and Caldy.

"Hopefully we can use the away trips to try to form a game plan to which we can play, or we face a stormy time at Easter."

For the Chester match Kendal's pack is boosted by the return of regular hooker Duncan Green and second row powerhouse Mike Capstick.

Scrum half James Gough has recovered from a chest injury so Andrew Boardley moves out to the wing to cover for John Ladell who went off injured against Stockport.

The bus leaves Kendal Cricket Club at 11.30am and the squad is: Forwards: A. Martindale, D. Green, R. Harryman; L. Hayton, M. Capstick; R. Quarry, S. Oliver, N. McKain.

Backs: J. Gough, M. Tuhakaraina; A. Boardley, P. Tuhakaraina, N. Michelini, C. Park; S. Mulholland.

Bench: I. Ross, C. Hattam, L. Jacobs.
