AMBLESIDE were looking to put their poor run in the Netherwood League behind them but with both sides starting well most of the play was in midfield.
For Ambleside Jasmine Blacow and Nicola Wightman combined well on the right and Adele Fletcher was strong on the left to force a number of penalty corners, but Nicola Conway was just wide of the target on a number of occasions.
Ambleside pressed Ulverston in the second half with Hannah Rigg, Faye Westbury and Sheelagh Newell creating a number of unfinished chances.
Ulverston responded with quick breaks through the centre, but were held out by the Ambleside defence of Rebecca Camp, players' player Kate Wilkinson and Val Nicholls.
In the final minute, Ulverston had a chance to sneak the win with a short corner, but Ambleside cleared well.
