WINDERMERE Men wrapped up the NW Division Seven North title at a canter on Saturday, beating bottom side Daten 2nd 9-0 in what was little more than a training ground performance.

Mark Hartnett, Mike Hodgson and Steve Heyns each scored a brace of goals and the other scorers were Scott Santamera, Sam Crompton and Peter Simm in a very one-sided contest. All the goals were scored in open play and were mostly close range finishes to passing moves that had stretched the Daten rearguard to breaking point.

Daten could only field ten men and their star man was, not surprisingly, their goalkeeper.

His was the busiest role on the pitch and without his sterling contribution Windermere could easily have scored 20.

Windermere take on runners-up Bolton 3rd away tomorrow (Saturday) in a match all about pride. Bolton are intent on avenging their 4-1 defeat in the Lakes back in December and Windermere will not want to lose their unbeaten record in this, their penultimate league fixture.

n Windermere 2nd came from behind to win a gripping Cumbria Sunday Association game with Keswick at the Lakes School pitch. Rob Thacker gave Windermere an early lead but Keswick led 2-1 at the interval before goal-a-game Andrew Darling and Dave Spiby gave Windermere a deserved 3-2 victory. Harry Jackson, Tom Matthews, Richard Dawson and Rob Thacker were also outstanding for Windermere.
