GHYLL Head has fished well to orange lures. Those that have fished without a gold head and stripped back quickly have done well.

Fishing on Killington Lake has improved and rainbow trout are coming out to bibio flies and green and black lures.

Anglers fishing with worms are also doing very well.

On brighter, warmer days the dam at Bigland has produced good catches with Martin Craven taking 18 on bloodworm and cats whisker, while Luke and Gary Knipe had 13 a piece on lure and bloodworm. John Hocknell and Charlie Parkinson had nine apiece on small lure and red/green buzzer. Eddy Rowbottom reported his strong fighting catch to be seven on montana and jws.

Coarse fishing on the River Kent has seen an early run of sea trout and salmon which surprised some anglers during the week who were fly fishing for brown trout.

TIP OF THE WEEK Speedy retrieves with lures seem to be catching more fish than slow retrieves with gold heads which would suggest the trout are fairly high up in the water.
