MILNTHORPE Corinthians conceded a goal within 30 seconds of the start after another defensive error put them on the back foot straight away.

The exchanges in this Aegon West Lancashire League Division One match then settled down until the referee awarded Springfields a penalty that was well saved by Russ Sharpe.

Corinthians then let a second goal in on the stroke of half time.

The second half started better for the home side when Paul Brooks was through on goal only to be brought down on the edge of the penalty area, but the referee let the offending player off with a yellow card.

From the resulting free kick, Bobby Walsh forced a fine save from the keeper then David Davidson came close with a header from a corner.

With time wearing on, Springfields were awarded another penalty and this time made no mistake to go 3-0 up.

Corinthians were then awarded a penalty after Byron Harris was brought down, but Ed Duckett's spot kick was saved.

In Reserve Division Two, Corinthians Reserves had a tremendous result away at Haslingden St Mary's winning 3-2 with a hat trick in 20 minutes from Dan Robinson.

Dalton United moved from seventh to fifth in the Premier Division with a 2-0 home win against Blackrod Town. On target for Alec Ogilvie's side were the prolific Dave Mansergh and Greg Metcalfe, BAE Barrow SC lost 4-0 at Turton.

In Division One, Crooklands Casuals were in fine form against Garstang, beating the visitors 3-2 through goals from Kevin Edwards, Adam Singleton and Paul Bell.

Furness Rovers also had a good win, beating basement side Burnley Belvedere 4-2 with Doherty (2), Crompton and McGarry doing the business.

Millom travelled to Lytham St Anne's and lost 4-2 with Carl Waters and Steve Robinson netting.

Division Two action brought a 1-1 draw for Furness Cavaliers against lowly Rivington with Lee Rodgers their scorers.

GSK Ulverston Rangers lost 2-1 to Croston Sports with Gary Prosser on target again.

Ged Dixon took his Askam United to second-placed Stoneclough, where they lost 2-1 with Davies their scorer.
