A Lake District trail race, which takes entrants through some of the most beautiful scenery in Cumbria, is set for Sunday, June 5.

The second Garburn Trail race and Challenge, sponsored by Lakeland Limited, features a 20k/12-mile course on well-marked footpaths and bridleways that link Staveley and Windermere via the Garburn Pass.

Event organisers Graham Patten and Claire Boothroyd say the event has something for everyone and expect the entry limit of 500 to be reached before May 21, the closing date.

Walkers, joggers and fun-ruinners set off first, followed by Nordic walkers and then the trail runners.

Children are also catered for with junior trail runs around the finish arena later in the day. A new event website www.garburn.co.uk has been launched.
