Francesca Heginbotham from Barrows Green qualified for the Royal International at Hereford Marches Show at Malvern.

Francesca was riding the 16-year-old Wrayton Monty, bred by Stanley Metcalfe from Kendal, won the Open Nursery Stakes. Monty was also a winner the following week at the BSPS 2B Spring Day.

Francesca's elder sister Katie celebrated her 17th birthday at the Spring Show by taking the champion working hunter with Whineray Beach Boy, and was also second in the 15 hands with Chiddock Spot Check.

Phoebe Mallinson from Underbarrow also had a good day at the Spring Show when reserve mini champion with Glanymor Zac.

Abbie Schofield, a pupil at Casterton School, was successful with the Welsh section C gelding Maenan Captain Corelli, taking the heritage championship and qualifying for the Royal International at Dove Valley Show at Uttoxeter.

Area 1B member Lian Watson qualified at the same venue with the intermediate working hunter winner Meath Busy Body, which was also champion at the Winter Championships, having been bought from Judith Buckley from Ings four years ago. MB
