FAST starting Ingleton blew away North Lancashire league Premier Division leaders TIC Dynamos with a stunning opening 25 minutes during which they took a 3-0 lead.

Veteran Chris Bibby was outstanding. His ball distribution was excellent and he e scored one goal and made one of the two scored by young Tommy Murray. Dynamos grabbed a goal back but could not get into the game.

Marsh United faced a tricky fixture when they travelled to Kirkby Lonsdale and the fast and frenetic game turned out to be a good advert for local football.

Kirkby took the lead with a good goal from Neil Hartley but Marsh, who are slight favourites for the champion-ship, drew level. Marsh then started to wear down Kirkby Lonsdale and took a 2-1 winning lead.

Division One SWARTHMOOR Social Club had an easier game than they expected in the Holdens/Gibson Cup semi-final, winning 6-0 against Slyne-Hest Reserves. The match was goalless at half-time, but 'Moor then rattled in goals from Ryan Lackey, Ricky Gallagher, Mike Webster, Steve Pye, Andy Butler and Graham Wilcox.

Swarthmoor will meet Carnforth Rangers at Giant-Axe in the final on Wednesday, April 4.

In the league, fourth-placed Bentham blasted three goals inside the opening 15 minutes against Grange. Gary Louth netted in the opening minute and James Earnshaw showed skill and pace to add the second and third.

Grange were put under so much pressure that they conceded two own goals, first from Andrew Read and the second from Dave Robinson, before Darren Brigg-Calvert scoring Bentham's sixth. Grange scored twice through Peter Gadsden and a Craig Turner penalty.

Cartmel Reserves had to struggle to hold off improving Ingleton Reserves, who are fighting to stay in the division.

Ingleton tried everything to upset the strong defence but could only score once though a Dave Baren penalty. Cartmel played better in the second half and netted through Shane McClure, Paul Airey and Lee Tracy.

Millhead battled well to hold Community Sports to a 2-2 draw and almost banish their relegation worries. James Rafferty and Darren Mawdsley were on target for Millhead.

Next to bottom Burton Thistle held fifth-placed Vine to a 1-1 draw. After a poor first half Thistle's Matthew Longden scored a good goal in the 70th minute, but a switch in the Vine line-up brought immediate success with a headed equaliser Division Two IN A thrilling second round tie of the Whiteside Cup Kirkby Lonsdale Rangers denied Arnside for long periods Arnside played the better football but Kirkby harassed them and had chances to win in the second half. It was heartbreak for Kirkby when Arnside striker Joe Taylor netted in the 90th minute.

In the league, Morecambe Hoops all but won promotion to Division One after a 4-0 win over Millhead Reserves. The only way Hoops could fail to gain promotion would be by squandering a 23-goal advantage in their last two games.

Caton United Reserves ended their season with a deserved win over Swarthmoor Reserves. Swarthmoor took the lead inside the opening three minutes when Ben Donnan scored through a ruck of players. The second half saw Caton on top for the first time, but the Swarthmoor keeper kept them out until a free-kick curling in for the equaliser. Swarthmoor's keeper then strayed off his line and was lobbed to make it 2-1. Swarthmoor went all out for an equaliser, but were denied by two fine saves and a shot which crashed against the bar.

Division Three LEADERS Furness Rovers easily beating bottom club Moorlands 7-0. The Leslie brothers combined to make it 2-0, Tom scoring the first aided by brother Joe. Joe then added the second aided by Tom. From then on it was all one-way traffic as James McNally scored the goal of the game, Will Law netted, and tricky Matthew Ziriki scored a hat-trick.

Allithwaite Rangers won their local derby against Grange Reserves 4-2.

Grange took the lead with veteran Dave Grundy scoring a trademark goal. Allithwaite then struck twice through Craig Benson and Will Anderson. Just before half-time Grange deservedly levelled through Barry Saunders.

Allithwaite played much better than Grange in the second half and ran out comfortable winners with two further goals from Martin Law.

Division Four Bolton-le-Sands Reserves moved up to second place after beating Bentham Reserves side 3-2. John Butler and Mark Smith scored for Bentham with Tom Burns and Darren Thompson and an Ashley Ward penalty winning it for Sands Reserves.

n BEN Clarke plundered two goals for Cartmel as they held Vickerstown for the first half of their Furness and District Senior Challenge Cup second round tie. West Lancashire League side Vickerstown then took charge to win 4-2.
