CYCLING: Kent Valley Road Club riders took two of the category awards in Sunday's Lancaster CC Circuit of the Lune Valley 21.5 miles SPOCO time trial. But the undoubted star of the show was Preston Wheeler Gethin Butler, who broke the course record with a sparkling 48mins 24secs.
Second overall was Ulverston rider Paul O'Mahoney (ProBikeKit), the winner of the event in 2004 and 5, and Kent Valley's Calum Nicholson was 15th in 55-52 to clinch the award for first junior. His clubmate, Lynn Hamel, was the fastest woman, finishing an outstanding 17th overall in 57-15.
Kent Valley's final Lanequest event in their touring trophy series was at Tewitfield. Only two riders turned out and the winner was series victor Kevin Preston with 515 points from Tim Bennett on 470 points.
