A Thornton couple are appealing for people to help them in the search for their missing dog Freya.

The English setter was on a walk with Shelagh and Andrew Cuddon at Stanah Country Park, Thornton on Friday, October 17 when she darted through a hedge and within a few seconds had disappeared.

The distraught couple searched for Freya, a rescue dog, until 9.30pm and since then have scoured the area, but with no luck.

They have put up posters and have informed the RSPCA, the dog warden, local vets and kennels in a bid to track her down.

The couple have owned Freya for a year after she came to them from Ireland where she was found tied up in a ditch. Shelagh is worried that with the approach of Bonfire Night, Freya will be terrified of the fireworks and if someone has taken her they will not be aware of this.

Freya is small and looks more like a springer spanier. She is white with big black ears and a black spodge on her bottom. She was wearing a black collar with the couple’s telephone number on and is microchipped.

Anyone who has spotted her or who has any information should call 01253 821479 or 07711 553406
