Police are appealing for a woman to contact them who was at the scene of the fatal road traffic accident in Poulton in July.

At 11pm on Tuesday, July 15, a Vauxhall Astra and a HGV were involved in a head on collision on Amounderness Way.

The driver of the HGV escaped uninjured, sadly, the driver of the Astra, 35-year-old Dr Robert McKendrick from Carleton, died at the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing and police are very keen to speak to this woman in particular.

It is believed that she was wearing dark or black clothing and was driving a small car.

It is also believed that she could be a nurse or have some medical knowledge as she gave first aid at the scene.

Sergeant Guy Young, who is leading the investigation, said: "The lady has left the scene heading towards Cleveleys prior to police attending but we need to speak to her as witness accounts place the lady as being behind the heavy goods vehicle.

"We are also still keen to trace the occupants of the small car that was either directly or second in the line of cars behind that of Dr McKendrick and as such would have seen some or all of what happened that night.

"I would like to reassure them that there is no suggestion that they have done anything wrong, but they could help us piece together exactly what has happened."
