A 23-year-old man had to be cut free from his car after a crash in Poulton-le-Fylde last night.
Two people were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital following the accident at the junction of Hardhorn Road and Highcross Road, Poulton, just before 7.15pm.
Firefighters removed the man from the car using specialist hydraulic cutting equipment.
He is suffering from suspected spinal injuries.
Paramedics also treated a 67-year-old woman at the scene.
Ian Richards, watch manager from Blackpool Fire Station, said: “The man was removed on a spine board after the paramedics had completely immobilised his neck and spine.
“The Fire service used to remove the roof and the young male was removed from the car with the combined efforts of all three emergency services working together.
“It was an excellent team effort by the Fire Service, the paramedics and the Police.
“Both casualties were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.”
