Lytham manufacturing company Tangerine Group has been placed at number 29 in a list of the 50 fastest growing entrepreneurial businesses in the UK.

Tangerine, founded by businessman David Haythornthwaite, who is chairman of the group, includes 13 companies and specialises in the manufacturing and supply of animal feed supplements and veterinary nutraceuticals.

Earlier this year it was announced sales across the group had increased to £12.1m, up from £11m last year.

Late last year David Haythornthwaite also won the North West Society of Chartered Accountants’ Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Now the group has been chosen as a ‘Rising Star’, by industry bible BusinessXL magazine.

The list of 50 businesses includes two other Lancashire companies – Nelson based Daisy Communications which boasts a turnover of £33.2m, and Colne’s K3 Business Technology – a £34.1m turnover business.

Mr Haythornthwaite said: “Tangerine Group has had a very successful year, and this is the icing on the cake. To be recognised among such industry luminaries is great news for us.

“We already have plans in place for the next 12 months which should see us grow the business, even at these difficult times, and I am looking forward to the future.”
