Residents on a Fleetwood estate can learn about what is being done to make their neighbourhood safer during a community day on Wednesday.

Concentrating in particular on the West View area, the event will include police, fire, council and other agencies to raise awareness of various on-going projects to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

Activities inside West View community centre include advice on home and personal safety, a PACT meeting where young people will be leading the discussions and an online engagement exercise where people can ask questions of the police and local authority.

A clean-up will take place on the estate throughout the day, with skips being provided by Wyre Housing Association and litter picks courtesy of Fleetwood Sports College and the Youth Offending Team.

Bulbs will also be planted by local children.

The event has been organised by West View Community Association .

Susan Leech, anti-social behaviour co-ordinator for the Wyre Community Partnership, said: "Ridding neighbourhoods of crime and anti-social behaviour is not simply a job for the police.

"In Wyre we are very much in favour of the multi-agency approach and that's just what we're trying to highlight here.

"We're also trying to show how valuable community involvement can be and would encourage people to come forward and let us know what issues they feel need to be addressed."
