Town extended their unbeaten run to ten games thanks to a penalty from Paul Barrett five minutes into injury time on Tuesday.

Barrett’s goal came just minutes after Bacup looked to have snatched the points with a strike from Chris Ogunyode who was given too much space as he shot across Chris Brennan into the far corner.

Brennan was playing between the sticks because Mark Crossley was unavailable due to work and Billy Carrington was suspended.

Town also welcomed back skipper Russell Clarke but Neil Chapman was ruled out with a groin strain Bacup keeper Jon Paul Lewis saved from Lewis Jordan and Bill Williams before Town went ahead.

Liam Blades hoisted it high free kick under the Bacup crossbar.

Lewis fumbled the ball and it dropped to Spencer Jordan just inside the six yard box and he rammed it home through a ruck of players.

Town then had to make an enforced substitution when Jack Overson was injured after 20 minutes, Robert Grimes coming on.

Kenneth Strickland almost made it 2-0 with a 25-yard shot which went just wide.

Bacup continued to get forward at every opportunity and Shaun Clough had to block a shot from Hayden Paul for a corner after 25 minutes.

Five minutes later and Blades had his work cut out to defend a threatening move down the Town right.

Brothers Lewis and Spencer Jordan plus Robbie Smith all missed good chances before Bacup equalised on the hour.

Town failed to close down Chris Ogunyode on their right, he moved forward to the corner of the penalty area and hit a screamer across Brennan into the far top corner.

Town went straight down from the kick off and Hollindrake tried to curl a shot into the far corner of goal but it ended up going straight at Lewis in goal.

Town had a lucky let-off when three shots in succession from close in were blocked with desperate tackles.

Both sides went close before Bacup struck in injury time.

Ogunyode was again given too much space, he moved left of the Town goal and again he shot across Brennan into the far corner giving the keeper no chance.
