SCOTTISH rock sensation Idlewild are bringing a bit of thinking-man's music to the Whitehaven Civic Hall.
Blown in on a rugged highland wind the fresh-faced charmers took 2002 by storm with a succession of chart-topping tracks, a number three album and two top 20 singles.
Not your average boy-band, Roddy Woomble (vocals), Rod Jones (guitar) and Colin Newton (drums) first got together back in 1995.
They have come on in leaps and bounds since their debut mini-album Captain back in 1998.
Idlewild cut their teeth in the States, appearing on the USA's key prime-time entertainment shows, David Letterman and Conan O'Brien.
Since then they have made their mark in the UK and made the breakthrough
from the alternative rock scene to the mainstream when their third full album, The Remote Part, went to number three The Edinburgh group even persuaded Poet Laureate of Glasgow the Scottish literary big-man Edwin Morgan to feature on one of their albums which include Hope is Important 1998, 100 Broken Windows 2000 and The Remote Part 2002.
