BANISH your winter blues with a straight up shot of Hip-Hop this week.

Think old school Adidas coupled with a ghetto-tastic attitude and indulge in a celebration of 80s New York street style.

Live and direct from Nottingham, the hip-hop/drum n' bass underground club night, Klub Sumo, arrives in Kendal for the very first time.

At the heart of the night will be award-winning band Skinny Sumo, whose latest release, Kerb Yo Dog is already being heavily play-listed by Steve Lamacq on his Radio 1 evening session.

Combining sound systems and MCs with their own raw rapping, National Student Music Award winners Skinny Sumo are widely touted as the UK's finest exponents of live hip-hop/ drum n' bass.

And tomorrow (Saturday), Northern hip-hop fans will have a rare chance to catch them in action at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal.

Fronted by vocals from MC Skinny T, Baron D, Ninja and new recruit Mizz LSG, the line-up features Sharkboy on drums, Ten Bears on bass and DJ Strike on decks, and the collective come fresh from recording at the BBC Maida Vale studios and at Abbey Road studios.

Expect raw vocal talent, heavy bass lines and pumping beats. For details contact 01539-725133.
