THREE businesses in South Lakeland have received grants to the tune of £3,000.
Virtual reality high streets, comfy beds and new music are some of the products being sold by the three recipients of the Cumbria County Council economic initiatives fund - a pot of money to support businesses employing fewer than five people, with the aim of creating and safeguarding jobs. Grants awarded were:
l £500 to Ulverston-based music venture Bright Blue Studios a recording studio for local bands.
l £1,000 to Internet venture Aubergine and Egg Plant, which aims to create a virtual representation of Lakeland high street shop fronts.
l £1,000 to Lightburn Country Guest House to upgrade rooms and boost European marketing opportunities.
CCC South Lakeland local committee chairman Coun Anne Parker said: "The application process is simple and easily accessible. I would like to encourage local small businesses and individuals with innovative ideas for economic initiatives in the area to apply for funding."
