Alan Chamley would dearly love to break the 100mph barrier for a lap of the famous Isle of Man TT circuit and maybe this is the year he can do it.

The Kendal rider averaged 99.99mph when he finished 17th in the 1999 TT and this year hopes to speed round the course just that little bit quicker on his ZXR 400 Kawasaki in the Lightweight 400TT class.

His enthusiasm for the Isle of Man began with several outings in the 400 class of the Manx Grand Prix, where his best finish was third.

In 1998 he moved up to the TT races and was sixth The following year he recorded his fastest ever lap and finished 17th.

The following year it was 17th again on an ex-Honda UK 400 machine, but he won his first ever-bronze replica award for the effort.

Last year he finished a disappointing 24th, but this season his aim is to build up for the TT with a full season of road racing, but the TT round alone will cost him in excess of £2,000.
