EVERYONE from community groups to local councils is eligible to apply for a slice of £10million available for environmental work near quarry sites. English Nature's largest grant scheme to date is to support projects aimed at boosting biodiversity and geological conservation around quarries. The money from the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund which was raised from a tax placed on every tonne of rock taken from quarries will benefit local communities by increasing biodiversity, conserving geological features or buying out mineral rights threatening existing countryside. Information packs and application forms can be downloaded from the English Nature website www.englishnature.org.uk or by contacting Sally Allen on: 01476-584821.
