KENDAL continue to clock up high mileage in National League 2 at the start of 2003, writes Richard Daniels.

After undertaking the longest trip in English league rugby to Penzance and Newlyn a fortnight ago, the Mint Bridge squad face a long haul down the motorway this Saturday.

At the end of it will be a difficult match against third-placed Bracknell in Berkshire.

Frost caused the postponement of last Saturday's visit by Sedgley Park and it means Kendal's home supporters can see the team in action for the first time in the new year, weather permitting, against Stour-bridge on January 25.

But then it's back off on the road and the third overnight stop since the start of January against league leaders Henley Hawks.

Meanwhile, the cancelled Sedgley Park fixture has been rearranged for Saturday, February 15, the same afternoon as the England v France international. At Twickenham.

Kendal secretary Roger Wilson said the club were looking at a 2pm kick-off which would allow spectators to watch the international live at 4pm.

Tomorrow's match of the day in National League 2 sees Henley go to Penzance.

That top-two clash is sure to give their closest challengers Bracknell plenty of incentive against Kendal, who currently lie second from bottom in the table and three points adrift of Wharfedale, the club immediately above them

Kendal's 18-year-old prop Dan Bowles, who is studying for A levels at Kirkbie Kendal School, is set to make his debut in the first-team starting line-up.

He replaces Ian Thompson who is unavailable to travel because of work commitments.

Luke Ladell continues on the right wing for Jason Balmer, who has a hamstring problem.
