THE chief feature of Kendal Academy's Cumberland
and Westmorland winter programme was a series of bouts between David Parsons, of Levens, and Graham Brocklebank, of Carnforth, in the Club's Ages Competitions, writes Roger Robson.
Parsons usually tried to buttock Brocklebank, who countered by rushing him forward.
In last week's bouts the balance lay with Brocklebank who won two categories, but Parsons had the last word when he felled Brocklebank in the final of the Under-18 years.
Tonight (Friday) Kendal Academy has its Weights Competition at Kendal Leisure Centre, when wrestlers of all weights from boys of 6-stones to the heaviest men compete for points in the Winter Trophy.
At Carlisle Wrestling Club John Harrington, who is 10.5-stones and will be 16 this week, startled the seniors by felling two middleweight champions, Alan Walton and David Atkinson in the Club Points Competition.
