BROCKHOLE Visitor Centre launched its forth-coming Ecotastic weekend with a new trail for children.

Pupils at Langdale School road-tested the walk to give it their seal of approval before the main bank holiday weekend event kicks off on Sunday.

Cartoon maps of the walk, which aims to put the children in the driving seat, have been penned by local illustrator and Westmorland Gazette cartoonist Colin Shelbourn.

The £1 fee for the guides will be donated to the Lake District Tourism and Conservation Partnership and ploughed back into local conservation projects.

The main Ecotastic weekend, which runs from May 45, is a two-day event promoting healthy eating and healthy living. The family-focused entertainment, which has been organised by the Lake District National Park Authority and is sponsored by Warburtons, will include Colin's cartoon workshops.

There will also be a mobile climbing wall, Tai Chi demonstrations, local food and organic gardening displays and badge-making workshops.
