POLICE officers took to the streets in rural corners of the district in a bid to bring more uniformed bobbies into outlying areas.
As part of Rural Impact Day' on Saturday, local officers patrolled the beat in Bolton-le-Sands, Carnforth, Warton, Halton and Silverdale.
They also manned mobile drop-in police surgeries for local residents, policed rural roads and offered crime prevention advice to shoppers.
"The policing needs of the rural community are just as important to me as those in the larger towns," says Insp Richard Debicki, Morecambe Bay policing manager.
"I am determined we shall provide the best police service possible and these special days will help local people under-stand what we are trying to do to make their areas safer and more secure."
Insp Debicki and Sgt Dalvan Dawkins also visited village post offices and shops with crime prevention posters and leaflets, and say they were struck by the very positive feedback from residents'.
Sgt Dawkins says: "We received some very helpful community intelligence and a firearm was handed to us as part of our firearms amnesty."
