GOLFERS in the Eden Valley have a new all-year-round sporting facility. Kirkby Stephen Golf Course, owned by the Dinsdale family, has extended its 53-acre, nine-hole, par 35 course and created a four-bay driving range, within easy reach of car parking.
Though new members are always welcome at Kirkby Stephen Golf Club, owners Carol and Alan Dinsdale offer non-members the opportunity to enjoy their course and new range.
Carol said: "We wanted to offer everyone the opportunity to enjoy the game, and the new indoor, floodlit driving range extends the facilities. We welcome all ages to come and play, and the driving range is available for hire by groups such as Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Young Farmers or other organisations.
"Our aim has always been to encourage as many people to give golf a try."
The bays overlook unspoilt countryside and are 320 yards long. There could be no better setting than the Eden Valley, with stunning views of the fells and Lake District hills beyond.
Alan added: "The golf course has proved very popular and it takes at least two hours to play a round with the longest hole at 445 yards. We run a pay and play scheme as well as membership, there is no dress code and the club offers a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the game."
Kirkby Stephen's newest sporting facility is open from 8am until 9pm during the winter months.
