BOFFINS at Lancaster University are taking part in a £500,000 study into how people react to proposed wind farms They will look into factors influencing what has been called the Not In My Back Yard' attitude towards renewable energy installations.
Researchers led by Prof Gordon Walker of Lancaster's Department of Geography will work for three years alongside a team from De Montfort University Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development in Leicester.
Prof Walker says: "It is important to remember that renewable energy is not just about wind farms.
"This project will look across the range of technologies and find out how people view each of these. We hope to develop recommendations as to how a more productive dialogue between developers and local people can be achieved."
