A MAJOR offensive to clear storm damage at the Lake District National Park Visitor Centre has meant that Brockhole's grounds and car park have re opened.

But work is still continuing after some of the worst storms in living memory uprooted many trees and damaged a glass section of the building on the shores of Windermere.

LDNPA's field manager south David Bulman said it was vital that members of the public took notice of warning signs and keep well away from cordoned-off areas.

Mr Bulman said: "Some sections remain closed, such as Birkett Wood and the circular. But people will be able to go down to the lake shore and on to the public jetty.

"I cannot stress strongly enough that it would be dangerous to go near the "no entry" zones. These areas have been sectioned off because they are unsafe!"
