WE'VE another special feast for foodies this week as The Westmorland Gazette once again joins forces with one of the Lake District's top restaurants to offer readers a chance to dine out in style.

Our latest delicious prize is dinner-for-two to the value of £50 at Stonecross Manor on Milnthorpe Road in Kendal.

The hotel's team of professional chefs is led by former army chef Ian Flitcroft whose many claims to fame include cooking for King Olav of Norway, helping make wedding cakes for the royal family, and preparing magnificent mess dinners for army top brass.

A champion of the local food cause, Ian's menus reflect the seasons as well as the flavoursome delights of regional produce.

For example Pink Pigeon Parcel - Whole breast of pigeon on a wild mushroom, chicken liver and egg yolk farci wrapped in cabbage leaves, & served on a warmed sweet potato salad.

Blue Cheese & Port Pate - A smooth combination of blue cheese, cream cheese, port and chives garnished with walnuts & served with own-make crusty bread.

Parmesan Coated Herdwick Lamb Cutlets - Local lamb cutlets cooked in a Parmesan & sesame seed coating served with a rosemary risotto and tomato and watercress coulis.

Baked Fillet of Sea Bass with Limes and Shallots - Succulent fillet of sea bass cooked in parchment with limes and shallots & served with lemon and lime wedges dressed with watercress.

White chocolate & raspberry crme brle with hazelnut shortbread biscuits.

Pear & amaretto cheesecake with blackcurrant compote.

To enter this week's competition all you have to do is answer the question in the Westmorland Gazette's coupon. Send your entry to Dinner for Two', c/o Gillian Cowburn, Food Writer, The Westmorland Gazette, 1 Wainwright's Yard, Kendal, LA9 4DP, to arrive by first post next Friday, November 19.
