MORECAMBE produced the comeback of comebacks to draw 3-3 at Aldershot - after being 3-0 down with just over 30 minutes to go.

The Shrimps appeared shot as a disjointed first half saw them punished heavily for mistakes.

Jim Harvey's men couldn't hold onto the ball at all and went behind on 17 minutes as Nick Crittenden found Darren Barnard and his cross was powered home by Jon Challinor.

Things could have been worse when Chris Giles had an effort ruled out for offside as the Shots dominated.

They went in at the break 1-0 ahead but that lead was doubled on 52 minutes when Adam Crittenden's shot slipped under Adam Sollitt and into the net.

Morecambe appeared beaten two minutes later when Adam Miller made it three from the penalty spot.

There was a big protest over the penalty with suggestions Miller went down too easily under a challenge from Chris Blackburn but the referee was unmoved.

But that roused the Shrimps from their slumber and Black-burn met a Keiron Walmsley free kick to force a smart save from Nikki Bull. The keeper failed to hold the ball, though, and Wayne Curtis tucked home the rebound.

Now Morecambe were surging forward in search of an unlikely draw which was suddenly on the cards when Danny Carlton powered a shot home for 3-2 following a flowing move involving skipper Jim Bentley and Curtis.

Michael Twiss headed just wide when he should really have scored but the hotshot made up for it five minutes from time.

Jamie Heard won a free kick out wide and from his cross Bentley towered high above the defence to head back into the danger zone, where Twiss was on hand to provide the finishing touch from a couple of yards.

Morecambe could have won the game with a late flurry though Barnard missed the best chance of the remainder of the game when he broke clear only to spear his shot out of the quaint Recreation Ground.

Boss Harvey was delighted with his sides massive' effort against the high-flying Shots but he now has injury concerns over Terry McFlynn and Gary Thompson ahead of Saturday's FA Cup trip to Hull City.

Morecambe: Sollitt, Heard, Perkins, Bentley, Swan, Blackburn, Hunter, Walmsley, McFlynn (Curtis 45), Twiss, Thompson (Carlton 48). Subs not used: Howard, Osborne, Robinson.
