THERE is an opportunity this week to find out more about an archaeological project that aims to uncover part of Windermere's heritage.
The National Trust in Windermere has been working with local people and archaeologists to discover more about the St Catherine's Estate. The team has looked at documentary and archive evidence as well as undertaking fieldwork around the site. By working with local people on all aspects of the project, the team hopes to produce a piece of work that comes alive with a blend of facts from the ground and local stories and memories.
This has been made possible thanks to a local heritage initiative grant.
The archaeologists have been compiling the evidence and will hold a public meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at the Marchesi Centre in Windermere so that people can learn what has been found. The meeting takes place at 7pm.
