UP AND coming local triathletes Jenny Westworth and Alex Hargreaves were in action at the weekend in the British Triathlon Association Aquathlon championships at Manchester Salford Quays.
This event brought together the top three triathletes from each region in age groups from 15 to adult and veterans.
Jenny Westworth, from Ripley St Thomas School, and Alex Hargreaves of Lancaster Royal Grammar, pictured above, qualified over a series of events held throughout the North West for the event consisting of an open water swim in Salford Quays followed by a run around the closed Salford Quays walkways.
Both gave outstanding performances after getting a bit of a battering in the swim start, finishing in the top 20 despite being at the lower end of the age group.
