WHEN Chris Ducker joined the family laundry equipment business 20 years ago, it employed only a handful of staff and enjoyed a £180,000 turnover.

Today, Ducker Engineering turns over £15 million a year, has a 100-strong workforce and managing director Mr Ducker spends considerable time sailing and skiing.

He will reveal some of the secrets behind his success in business at a special breakfast briefing being held at the Lancaster House Hotel, Lancaster, next Thursday, November 27.

Ducker Engineering, which is based on the Mintsfeet industrial estate, supplies industrial, commercial and hospital laundry equipment, and exports to a number of countries.

Mr Ducker says he has a strong team running the company, which enables him to have some time to enjoy his hobbies.

The briefing, which is the last in a series of events held this year, is being organised by Lancaster University’s Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise and Lancaster-based marketing consultancy Charter Solutions.

The venture network aims to bring together like-minded entrepreneurs for a creative exchange of ideas.
