A NEW general manager has been appointed to help deliver further success for Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency.

Terry Jarvis is a former branch director of Lloyds TSB Bank – Carlisle group, and was previously senior manager for the bank’s Penrith group.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Jarvis said: “This is a new direction for my career, and I’m looking forward to the challenge. I’m sure my experience, which has covered most of Cumbria, will stand me in good stead when it comes to finding solutions for businesses in the county.” An associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Mr Jarvis lives at Maudes Meaburn with his wife Margaret.

A regular member of Penrith Badminton Club team, he was recently appointed as treasurer of Crosby Ravensworth show.

Bob Clark, chief executive of Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency (CREA), welcomed the appointment, saying: “Due to increasing growth, we have decided to take on a general manager to handle day-to-day operations.

“This will free-up more of my time to work in new directions such as the Rural Regeneration Company, which is about to get active.” CREA has grown from having seven small business advisors in 1986, to more than 80 advisors today with specialist teams working in Cumbria Farm Link, planning facilitation service, North West Tourism Initiative and Distinctly Cumbrian.
