Blackpool North and Fleetwood MP Joan Humble was one of over 70 visitors to the Victorian home of the Blackpool Freemasons on a recent heritage day.
Mrs Humble received a heritage tour of the classic building on Adelaide Street from Ian Robertson, the group chairman, Peter Bentham, the group vice chairman and John Topping, provincial communications officer.
Mrs Humble said: “As a student of history I am fascinated by the wealth of information available to see and read in the Blackpool Masonic Hall.
“For over a hundred years Blackpool businessmen and other professionals have been Freemasons, I am pleased that the historical shroud of secrecy that surrounded Freemasonry for many decades has been replaced with an open approach to explaining what Freemasons do.
“I had an interesting discussion about the contributions the members make and how they take forward their beliefs.”
