A MONTH after a Northern train derailed on the approach to Grange station, services are finally up and running again on the Furness Line.
From March 22 until yesterday, bus replacement services were running between Lancaster and Barrow while Network Rail engineers fixed and tested the line.
A 25 minute train journey between Lancaster and Grange in particular would take longer as the bus would have to travel on roads around Morecambe Bay rather than crossing the Arnside viaduct.
Both services from Lancaster and from Barrow are running on time this morning.
Last week, Network Rail said that its engineers were working 'round the clock' to get the line functional again. Their last job was relaying the ballast (railways stones) and track.
A void in the ground was found by engineers around 150m from where the train derailed.
