Plans for a new McDonald's drive-thru in Kendal are set to take a step forward following a public exhibit on Thursday.

As part of an ongoing pre-application consultation, the fast food chain is hosting the event to discuss proposals to build the restaurant at South Lakes Retail Park.

The event will take place on February 15 at Kendal Rugby Club on Shap Road from 2pm to 7pm.

Oliver Rebeiro, Senior Acquisitions Surveyor at McDonald's, said: "We invite residents, stakeholders, and interested parties to join us and participate in shaping the future of our proposals.

"Your input is invaluable as we move forward with this significant investment, which could ultimately result in 120 local jobs."

This exhibition will provide attendees with an in-depth look at the proposals, featuring information about the economic benefits of a new McDonald’s Restaurant, and detailed imagery showcasing what the development will look like.

Representatives for McDonald’s will be available to discuss the plans and gather feedback from the community.

The restaurant would provide indoor seating and an additional six parking spaces at the retail park, as well as operate 24/7.

Knowing that nearby residents may have concerns, the proposals involve certain measures to limit disruptions to potential neighbours.

These include three daily litter picks, control measures in ventilation systems to limit cooking odours, and a 'sensitive' lighting scheme.

The new drive-thru restaurant will reportedly generate around £30,000 in business rates each year, a proportion of which will be retained by Westmorland and Furness Council to help fund key local services.

A Transport Assessment will be submitted as part of the planning application which will consider the impacts of the proposed development on the local road network.

Feedback will close on Friday, February 23.
