CUMBRIAN TV personality Helen Skelton completed her journey on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing with an 'outstanding' final perfomance.

The 38-year-old Countryfile presenter reached the finals of the BBC popular show and her former dance teacher couldn not be more 'proud' of her performances.

Helen was part of the Stepping Stones School of Dance in Appleby in 2004 and she attended Andrea Stones' freestyle dance classes.

Andrea said: "It was wonderful to see her performing. We have watched and followed her journey and it is lovely for the students to see someone that came to our dance school on a dancing programme as huge as Strictly Come Dancing is. It is an inspiration for them."

She added: "We are very proud. We have had the dance school for 25 years and we are very lucky that Helen came and she is doing so well. She is very deserving of it."

Helen and her dance partner Gorka Marquez went into Saturday's final as the second favourite.

Andrea Stones said: "The last performance was outstanding. She was absolutely brilliant and couldn't be prouder.

"They were all worthy winners and amazing. Obviously Helen was our winner."
