Netherfield Cricket Club has confirmed the signing of Indian left arm spinner Sagar Udeshi as its new professional for the 2023 season.

Udeshi joins ahead of the 2023 season following a string of impressive performances for the Club after he deputised as their sub professional on four different occasions following the early departure of Asutosh Singh.

Udeshi, who was the club orofessional for Ryhope Cricket Club last season, made a crucial contribution for Netherfield after he picked up a strong return of 17 wickets at an average of 3.9.

Sagar impressed in the derby games against Kendal after he claimed six wickets in the win at Shap Road before finishing with 5 wickets in the return league game at Parkside Road in August.

The spinner, who can bat in the middle order, had also played in the league games against Chorley home and away and made one appearance in the 40 over cup game against Kendal.

Sagar's positive attitude both on and off the pitch appealed to the club as he enjoyed playing for Netherfield last season, while he got on well with the players.

Udeshi made his first-class debut for Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament in Sri Lanka in 2018. He was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 57 dismissals in eight matches.

He currently plays his domestic cricket for The Cricket Association of Pondi-Cherry and will be joining Netherfield ahead of the 2023 season which gets underway in April.

Netherfield's first team had a frustrating 2022 season where they finished fifth and missed out on a top four place while the team's main highlight saw the team compete in The National Twenty-20 finals before losing to Barnt Green.
