A PREGNANT woman has been airlifted from a South Lakeland fell side suffering from suspected appendicitis.
The 24-year-old woman, who has not been named, was camping at Codale Tarn, near Grasmere, as part of a large walking party, when she fell ill, at 10.30pm on Wednesday.
The Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue team was mobilised but a helicopter from Boulmer, in Northumbria, reached her first and took her to the Cumberland Infirmary, in Carlisle.
The woman is believed to be making a good recovery.
