PEOPLE are being urged to keep on donating to the Sir John Barrow Monument restoration project at Ulverston.
The project was awarded £891,000 towards the £1.1 million needed to return the Hoad Hill landmark to its former glory but £50,000 is still needed, and at Monday's town council meeting, Coun Colin Hodgson said: "We must not let up with the fund-raising." Town mayor Brenda Marr also urged the public to have patience with the project, which is still in its early stages.
"As far as the general public is concerned, they are not going to see anything happening up at the Hoad for a good year," she said. "They will see us getting this money and then nothing is happening, but because it is public money there is a lot of work to do to ensure everything is in place."
