A MAJOR engineering project which is protecting hundreds of people from flooding is being celebrated in a new booklet.
Thanks to the completion of the multi-million pound flood relief scheme, householders in the Lowther Park area are now able to sleep peacefully at night knowing their homes are finally being protected.
While many parts of England have suffered devastation this summer as rivers and streams burst their banks, in Kendal the Stock Beck Action Group, which refused to take no' for an answer following equally destructive floods which ruined homes in 1999, was happily being wound up.
But the flood relief campaigners do not want their little piece of history to be forgotten - and the illustrated publication chronicling the aftermath of the floods, which wreaked havoc in parts of Silverdale Drive and Lowther Park and among a small number of homes in Calder Drive - has been collated by Stock Beck Action Group member Bryan Wilson and is available for £6 by telephoning 01539-723696 or 726160.
