FOUR South Lakeland councils, frozen through lack of interest, can resume business again after community spirit saved the day.
More than 20 fresh faces put themselves forward as potential parish councillors after Windermere, Lupton, Burneside and Pennington communities were left in limbo by a lack of candidates for the May 3 elections.
The combination of apathy and invalid nomination papers, which meant the councils' necessary quorums could not be filled, forced South Lakeland District Council to ban meetings and mayor-makings and schedule a second election for June.
As the deadline for nominations passed yesterday (Thursday), enough nominations had been submitted to form the quorums, meaning meetings can resume.
