DELIGHTED mountain rescue team members in Cumbria have welcomed news that Prince William has agreed to become patron of the Mountain Rescue Council England and Wales.
HRH Prince William spent time with the RAF mountain rescue team during his gap year and has chosen to become the royal patron of the council that acts as a co-ordinating body for mountain rescue teams in both countries.
Nick Owen, leader of Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team, said it would bring benefits to mountain rescue teams across the area.
