MORE than 100 residents of Grange-over-Sands turned out to demonstrate their support for the re-opening of Berners Pool as a 1,200 name petition was presented to the town council on Monday.
The residents of the town and surrounding area packed into the Victoria Hall, in Grange, to show the strength of feeling for the pool and leisure centre - which closed last July following financial difficulties.
The group behind the petition - parents concerned that their children are missing out on the opportunity to learn to swim - told the town council the petition had galvanised support for their cause in the town, and that they felt justice was on their side.
