VACANCIES have occurred at Ulverston Town Council after two councillors resigned. The resignations of John Birkett, Conservative, and David Barry, Labour, were announced at Monday's meeting, and the posts have now been advertised. In their respective letters to the council, both men indicated that they were finding it difficult to dedicate enough time to their roles as councillors. If ten or more people ask for an election, there will be one - otherwise the council can co-opt someone on to the council.
