THE vicar of Kendal's parish church is to retire at Easter after almost seven years.
Canon Ron Metcalfe's final Sunday will be Easter Sunday, after which he and his wife, Fiona, will be moving to Darlington.
Canon Metcalfe, 66, came to Kendal after spending all of his earlier ministry in York diocese.
During his time at Kendal, he spearheaded a successful £250,000 appeal for urgent repairs to the roof of the historic parish church. Individuals supported the appeal, with one person making an anonymous £50,000 donation.
