THE eight communities of the Rainbow Parish of Kirkby Lonsdale will meet their new rector on Monday when the vintage bike fan and his family are formally introduced.
Former engineer the Rev Richard Snow will take a breather from rebuilding his 1960s Triumph to officially take up the reins as team leader at a service of Institution and Induction in St Mary's Church.
Mr Snow, who is married to Gillie and has two daughters, Rebecca, 13, and Katherine, 11, beat off stiff competition to win the job after Canon Graham Bettridge retired last April, after 25 years.
Born in Bradford and raised in Embsay, near Skipton, Mr Snow originally trained as an aeronautical engineer but after eight years of engines he began a course in theology at Oxford, going on to curate positions in Somerset, Swindon and, more recently, Box in Wiltshire.
