RESIDENTS of a small South Lakeland village have lost their fight against plans to provide workshops and extra space for recovering drug addicts within a religious community.
Neighbours of the Catholic Cenecolo Community, at Dodding Green, near Mealbank, Kendal, spoke out against the opening of the project two years ago and opposed the plans for new facilities.
But at a planning meeting, South Lakeland district councillors voted to agree permission for the conversion of a Grade II listed barn in the grounds of the community that helps up to 16 young men rebuild their lives after beating substance abuse.
