RESIDENTS living in a South Lakeland town's conservation area have reacted angrily to letters from South Lakeland District Council calling on them to apply for planning permission for satellite dishes.
SLDC enforcement officer Mark Balderson said the presence of several satellite dishes in the Windy Hill and Harmony Hill area of Milnthorpe was contrary to the Town and Country Planning Order 1995 as the streets were part of the town's conservation area.
Letters explaining the situation were sent to several residents in the area and they have reacted angrily with pensioner Tommy Liddle, of Windy Hill, claiming that his quality of life would be affected if he was forced to remove his satellite dish.
He said that more pressing matters were being ignored by the council and described the situation as being "ridiculous".
